Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Many Christians are in much the same circumstance as the Israelites of old. Certainly, they were delivered out of Egypt, but they were still in the wilderness.
Exodus 13:18 - "But God led the people about, through the way of the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt."
Many are satisfied in the wilderness, looking to the future for the promise. Some are like Joshua and Caleb, knowing the promise is for today.
Numbers 14:22-24 - "Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not harkened unto my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I swear unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoke me see it." (For further scripture reference, read Numbers 13:1-33).
The wilderness was not God's best for His people, but was a consequence of their own unbelief. Of those who were adults, only Joshua and Caleb were permitted to partake of the promise. The others wandered in the wilderness until they died. If your Christian experience is more like a wilderness wanderer than a partaker of the promise, then this message is for you.
