BEARING HIS WITNESS by Henry Stanley Christ - He that is the firstborn is He who is come out from among the dead. That means He has nothing to do with the dead! Glory to God! That Son that has come forth to bring us unto Himself. How glorious it is! Looking upon His face - for He has come! I tell you, when we behold His face, the things of the world just grow dim. Face to face with Him, beholding Him who is in the heavens. I am coming to a realization that out of the heavens, the open heavens - that which is of Himself is coming forth! The scripture says that nations shall flow into it. You see, when it is nothing but Christ, the purity of the Word, the nature of Christ...nations will come unto it. Isaiah declares "Arise and shine, for thy light is come." It's not just coming, but thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you! The Amplified Bible says there that it brings us into a place that we arise above our circumstances and our situations. And that light is Him, and He is come, and He is come to lighten the eyes of our understanding, to illuminate our hearts, to see Him, to know Him, to behold Him face to face! That we, as His people today can come into this union, this relationship, that He has brought forth in Himself. He has brought us into Himself - the City - everything about Him is because of Him - the light, the glory of it is HIM! I have been thinking about the Only Begotten Son. In Hebrews 1 it declares the Only Begotten Son, that One that the Father Himself gives recognition to. And in return that Son gives glory, and honor unto the Father. We are headed for something that is mighty and great and precious because it is the increase of Himself that is coming forth! The Holy Spirit is making us ONE with that Eternal Son! That is the purpose of God - bringing forth, building together a people as a habitation - lively stones built up as a spiritual house - for the expression of Himself! Turn now to John 1. We will look into that Light and that Life and that Glory that He is. Verse 4, "In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." He shines out of darkness, and that darkness is the lack of understanding, and ignorance of Him. And therefore, He who is that light and that life that is within us, is shining, and that darkness is not going to be able to hinder that which He is. HE IS GOING TO SHINE FORTH! I see this in the Judgment Seat of Christ. We've looked at that as if we're walking up to Him to stand before Him, but we are ever standing before the Judgment Seat of Christ, because that Judgment is HIM! In the light of Him, in the light of the Truth, in the light of that which He is - the Son of God stands as the Judgment to judge all that is not the nature and character of Himself. So John says "In Him was life...and the light shineth...and the darkness comprehended it not." Verse 6. " There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light." John said that by bearing that witness of the Light that He is, of the Life that He is - that glory of Himself - that by that witness all men might believe. You talk about touching nations - nations shall turn unto that which comes of only Him! For so long it has been such a mixture that has been declared. But God has been dealing with me. We don't have time to get up and begin to preach what is not Christ or what is not right - but the issue is that we declare that which is Him! I don't have time just to fight against the Church and tell how wrong it is - but I have to declare that which is Him! What people need to see and to hear is that which is Truth - they can know the Truth and they can walk in that Truth, and they can walk in the Light and the understanding of Him! We don't need to have our minds all clogged up with what is not Christ. What is the important thing is what is Christ! Begin to present HIM AS HE IS! And He is coming forth in a Body, He is coming forth in a building that is not being built with the hands of men, but it is the working of His Spirit that is bringing about a House for the habitation of Himself! The book of Psalms declares that He inhabits a people, and He places His habitation in Zion. John said 'I'm not that Light, but I've come to bear witness of that Light.' John recognized that he was one with Him, and because of Him who was that Light and that Life, that was the thing that was going to come forth in John's life. That was going to be the manifestation of that. The hour is truly upon us when that day star that He is, is ready to arise in our hearts as never before. Even greater than in Deuteronomy 6, we're going to rise up with Him, we're going to go to bed with Him - everything that pertains unto our life is going to be Him! John said he was not that Light, but he was to bear witness of that Light - that all men through him might believe. This is the Begotten Son - that isn't speaking just of Jesus alone, but it is speaking of Jesus in the Body, in that Corporate Body. And everything that Corporate Body is and would ever be is because of Him, who is the Head and the Life of that Body! There is no Life outside of Him! We don't even have time to talk about death anymore. I remember when I began to hear some of the truth that is in Christ I began to minister that the only way that you will be able to identify with His Life, is you first must identify with His death. And I began teaching on that, and the Lord stopped me and said, 'Son, the only way that you will ever be able to identify with my death, is first of all the identification of my Life, because it is My Life that brings the Light and the understanding that you have been crucified with Me!' Romans 5 declares that by Him we have been reconciled by His death, but we are saved by His Life! And the light, the revelation, the unveiling of Himself is what brings us into the comprehension of His death. His death is a far greater death than we ever experienced in Adam! Yes - we were dead in sin. But I'm telling you that the death of Jesus Christ, that Crucified One, brought us to an end of ourselves in Adam - and that death was a far greater death - because it brought forth that life of Himself. It brought forth the Life of Himself! Many of us were raised in Baptism and Pentecost, and we have a real problem with the truth that we are seated in heavenly places, and we need to see that much of the teaching of heaven is just a myth. Some will say, doesn't the Bible say that the dead in Christ shall rise first? But the dead in Christ is the death, the crucifixion of that One that has brought us into that death - therefore we are dead in Christ! And when we are dead in Christ, we come forth in His Life! He is the Crucified One! We're not just dealing with being dead to Adam, but there One appears as the Crucified One, and in that Crucified One there appears a people that come forth in that glory and fulness of Himself! His fulness - there are many places in the Word of God that declare that He is the fulness of His Body - Ephesians 1:22-23, "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all." We say we're waiting for His fulness - but He is the fulness of His Body. The fulness of the Godhead bodily dwelleth in Him. Jesus Christ was absolutely the fulness of the Father. God said He came without measure - it was the fulness. And the reason we think His fulness is yet to come is because we haven't been able to comprehend by the Spirit that it is HIM who is the fulness! We think it's based on what we're doing. And don't misunderstand me. I believe there's a walk, I believe there's an act of obedience in the things of God in order to be pleasing to the Lord. It is all through the Word of God - do this, do ye... do something. I don't think God is saying we sit back and we fold our hands and God is going to do it. I think He's going to do it if there is a people who have a hungry heart. "As the deer panteth after the water brook, so doth my soul pant after thee." You see we are to bear this. I'm getting to the point where I don't have a big desire to preach. God isn't looking for someone just to stand up and preach this, He's looking for somebody that will become a manifestation of it! And you and I don't bring Him manifestation or expression, but you and I are the vessels in which He brings forth Himself as the expression and it is the manifestation of Himself that comes forth. IT IS HIM WHO IS BEING REVEALED! It is HIM who is coming forth! In 1 Samuel 3:21, "And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh..." Genesis 49:10 says, "The scepter shall not depart from Judah ...until Shiloh come; and then unto him shall the gathering of the people be." Here Samuel experienced this. "And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh; for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord." John heard the voice of God in the book of Revelation. He said when I heard that voice I turned to see the voice. And when he turned and looked, he saw One like unto the Son of Man in the very midst. That is talking about a corporate gathering that is coming forth in One who is standing in the midst of that corporate Body - it is that Living Son of God! So John said I came to bear witness of that Light that all men through him might believe. He was not the Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. In 1 John 1 there is a glorious truth, because John was not only speaking of walking side by side with the Lord in the earth, but John had a continuous relationship with Him. And he said it was that which was from the beginning. The One that was the creator, that created heaven and earth and all things that are therein - then He brings forth that creation of Himself, and brings a people into Himself for the expression of Himself. You and I must come to realize that it is to be the increase of Him, the fruit of Him that comes forth! It's like a vineyard and He looks into the garden. And the Father sees a husbandman and He looks to see the fruit. We talk about the former rain and the latter rain. You see, some of the experiences we've had in the Lord in our early life as a "born-one" in Christ were good, but what God is doing now is bringing forth the increase of Himself! The Old Testament speaks of the former house and the latter house - and there was no comparison. The former house there is we have seen ourselves, we have preached ourselves - it has been such a mixture. But the latter house is going to be NONE BUT HIM! Filling it up - yes, beloved, we are the temple of God. But in Revelation 21 John said, 'I looked and I saw no temple save God Almighty and the Lamb.' And He is the Light of that glorious City! The City is Him - it is a people with the nature, the character, the exactness of that which He is, but I'm telling you - He is the temple therein! This thing all gives way to Him! And the expression of Himself comes in abundance because it is that which shall fill up the earth. "Greater works than I do ye shall do because I go to my Father." That doesn't mean that we're going to perform greater miracles, but it means that greater is Him that is coming forth, and there will be a multiplication of Him - of that seed that we are found in. That seed, that fruit of Himself is multiplied, that increase of Himself comes forth. The Word declares that it will be like the waters cover the seas; that the glory of the Lord shall fill all the earth even as the waters cover the sea. This is not some small thing that the Lord is doing, and what the Father has purposed in Himself is that all of it would come to the finality that God Himself would be all and in all. And the expression of that which He is coming forth in that Body that He has prepared for Himself! It's becoming so that sometimes we don't have the words to say it, because there is nothing like that divine revelation of Christ Jesus that comes forth in our hearts, and it captivates our souls to the place that we have no vocabulary to speak it. You know I was thinking, when that Ark was captured by the Philistines; and that Ark was the very divine glory and presence of God that was in the midst of Israel; when that Ark was captured there was great sorrow in the hearts of the people. But when it came back into Jerusalem, the Word of God says David danced before the Lord, and his wife thought he was a foolish man for what he was doing. But I want to tell you, when this thing becomes more than just preaching and teaching; when it becomes more than just going to church; but when it becomes a living organism, energized by the Holy Spirit into our hearts and our lives - we will recognize that it is Him who is our Life! And there will be joy unspeakable! He said when the Holy Ghost is come it will be like a woman that is with child and she will travail. But as soon as that child is born, great joy comes, and no man can take it away! God is building something within this Body that is to bear, to bring forth a Covenant, a relationship that is going to reveal and manifest that which He is, because that's the House. That's the building, the place of His expression, that is the purpose of the Father from the beginning. "That which was from the beginning" came. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. It is the Word of the Lord, it is the Voice of God that comes and in that Voice is an appearing; there's a revealing of Him! There's a revelation, and that revelation is absolutely a Person! It is a Person who once again is walking in flesh - in a new humanity so that the world may know. He said through you the world will know that I have been sent from God! The world will know this, people. The reason many times it hasn't been effective is there's been too much mixture. We are still preaching ourselves and coming to a knowledge of the Word, but yet Christ never being in the picture of it, but it's "we" being Christ and "we" being this or that. But I want to tell you, when you see Him, when He is revealed as the One that He is, you'll not be able to preach yourself! IT IS HIM! Even the workings of Him is by the faith of the operation of God Himself - it is not you and I that does it - it is His Spirit! John says, I come to bear witness of This One, This One that is from heaven. Oh, the Lord appeared to Samuel! I tell you something, the appearing of the Lord isn't just one time. Every time Abraham built an altar unto the Lord, he was being directed by the Lord. "Abraham, get out of your country, from your kindred, to a land I'll show you." He never did designate a certain natural place for him to go to, He didn't name any city for him to go to. Abraham continually walked with God and as he heard the voice of God and as he built the altar unto the Lord - every time that he did - the Lord appeared unto Abraham! We have to take the Word for what it says. If the Word says He is the fulness of His Body, the Church - I have to believe it. I'm not saying I understand all of that, but I have to believe that. He is the only fulness that His Body has, whether I have an understanding of it or not! If people are born again of the Spirit, they are IN CHRIST whether they have a comprehension of it, or not. I spoke to a sister who I knew from my days in "Pentecost", and she said, 'What happened to you? You used to believe like we do.' I said, 'I saw the Lord!' I didn't mean that in a derogatory way, but I began to tell her how we were seated in heavenly places. We are seated there! Heaven is the eternal, abiding presence of Jesus Christ the Lord! We're seated there, in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus! John said I came to bear witness of this Light! John said the One that cometh after me yet was preferred before me, because John saw that this was the One that came out of the heavens. "I came from my Father into the earth. I leave the world and I go back unto My Father, and the world doesn't know me." The Word declares that the world didn't know Him, and He came to His own and His own didn't know Him! The thing that captured Saul's heart on the road of Damascus was the Voice of God, it was that great Light that He was. "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? Why kick against the pricks?" "Who art thou, Lord?" "I AM JESUS, whom thou persecutest." Persecuting Jesus? Who was he persecuting? The Body! And I'm telling you, he had an encounter with the Lord, and from then on, there was a pursuing in his heart, to the extent that it took him out to the Arabian desert for three years. And oh, what he beheld! Paul beheld things that he could not utter! Caught up into the third heaven! Uttering things, so a thorn had to be put into his flesh that he wouldn't be exalted; that Paul wouldn't come to a place that he would exalt himself. Oh - but that revelation that Paul had beheld in the heavens, that he might declare the Only One that was of the heavens! God has been dealing in my heart, even concerning this message. Because there was a time in which I walked in what we call "Kingdom" and "Sonship" and we just exalted ourselves, as if we were an elite people, and we seemed to forget everybody else. And there's been a real concern with me that this never happen to us. The Lord has been showing me about charity - and that word leaped off the page to me. Paul said, "Though I speak with the tongues of men and with angels, and I have not charity, I am as a tinkling cymbal and a sounding brass. Though I prophesy and though I understand all mysteries and all knowledge and all faith, and though I give my body to be burned, it profits me nothing if I have not charity." And when I went to the eighth verse of 1 Corinthians 13 it was just like a flash of lightning came off the page, and I went back to verse 1 and 2. He said, "Charity never faileth; but whether there be prophesies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away." And the Lord said, 'Son, the reason that is, is that it is without charity. Charity is what makes it effective.' And I pray that you and I will never come to that place. Oh yes, it is for the growing up, the full manifestation of Christ in a people. But let us not forget that there are those that this message must be presented as a witness to, because this is what will cause people to see and to know Him. It has happened with every revelation - people come to this thing and get high and mighty; they get exalted because they have the revelation of Christ, and they have the knowledge of God in them. But it is still important that we be able to minister to those who are weak. Paul said I am in debt (Romans 1:14). I am a debtor to the forbearers and I am in debt to those who are unwise. See, we must never come to the place that we say they are unwise or foolish - My God, we were too! And I still am in a lot of understandings of God. But oh, it's Him who is that Light! And the darkness can't comprehend the Light. This is the reality that John was speaking of. John was born before Him in the flesh, but John preferred Him. John said it is Him that I must bear witness to! John 1:9, "That was the true Light, which ligheth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. (Those that will come to bear His Name!) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." 1 Peter tells us the very same thing. "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." Born by that Word that He is! No wonder that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God! And that is the same Word which the Body of Christ today must hear - it is that Word that is made flesh, that is coming forth, being revealed in a people; His Body, the Building, and He is so fitly joining it together. He says in Ephesians 4 that He is fitly joining this Body together to the extent that it is compacted together, by a working of the Spirit, and every joint will supply and cause it to grow up into the Head. That doesn't mean they become God, it just means they become that Oneness, that union, that relationship with Him, and present Him - who HE IS! And this is what the Lord is doing. He's bringing forth a people who are going to bear this thing! When the priests were standing in the Jordan, the Word says, "When you see the priests that bear the Ark, go after it." I'm telling you, people have to see somebody that's bearing the Ark; they've got to see somebody that's bearing the identification of that Name, and not just saying "Jesus", but bearing a nature and a character of that One, of that Life that He is! That Life that He is, is to be a manifestation to lighten the world. And this was John's description of Christ - Christ the Light, He's the Light of the world! No other light. Even in the creation in Genesis, He said, "Let there be light, and there was light!" He did create the light that we know as day, but it extended far greater than that, because I'm talking about a creation of Himself, and when the scripture talks about light, it's talking about HIM! So He's talking about that Light that was brought forth, so there may come forth a people in that New Creation, in that New World that He is, for the manifestation of the very fulness of that which He is. That's not you and I trying to make ourselves be that. You will work until you don't have any fingernails, and you won't accomplish that. But when you come to a place where you rest in God, there is that true faith of the Son of God that begins to work in your heart, and you begin to act by that. You see, faith is a verb, and it means that it takes action. There's an activity that goes on with the faith of the Son of God. And in that activity of the Son of God, that faith begins to activate in your heart and in my heart, and it begins to bring forth the works of Him! Philippians 2:13 says, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." The working of Him! And when I have a tendency to go off and do things on my own, I hear His voice saying "Stand still and know that I am God!" You see, I've tried to work things for God, I've tried to make it happen, and I've learned that in Him, it is Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. As the Father has purposed in the Son - I'm telling you, that will never fail, whether you and I are ever joined into it or not - I'm telling you, it will never fail. The Eternal Purpose of the Father will never fail, because it's been purposed in that Son, to bring forth and gather up all things unto Himself, and to bring back all to the Father and say, 'Father, these are yours. I kept them in Thy name, they are yours, Father.' The Light of the world! I'm not talking about Jesus of Nazareth, and I would never disgrace Him. But I'm telling you the purpose of the Father was that through the death of Christ, and by the Resurrection, that He would bring forth the exactness of Himself in a many-membered, corporate Body. This is the Lord, this is the Christ, this is the whole Seed, the whole Light, the whole Life, the Glory - everything of it is HIM! That's the very center of it; that's what makes it be. And that's the joy of it today. That as the four and twenty elders in the book of Revelation stood as they cried, 'Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty! Thou has created all things for your pleasure!" This is what God is working in a people today, not to exalt self, not even to be exalted in. But the more it works in your heart and in your spirit there is a humility of that One that Isaiah saw in Chapter 66, and I'm not talking about putting on a show of humbleness. "Who is it that will build a house for me? Look - heaven is my throne, earth is my footstool. What are you going to build for me?" Brother, I'm talking about something of the Holy Spirit, the Living Christ. He walked among them. Yes, there were people who didn't hear Him, but there was a compassion in His heart. He said "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how often I would have gathered you as a hen gathers her chicks, but you would not. You stoned the prophets. You would not." I believe that God with the greater revelation and comprehension of this Christ, will bring forth a greater humbleness and more compassion, the more lowliness of mind - all of that is Christ that works in us. What happened to Paul when he came to see and to know the Lord? He said my heart and my prayer and my desire for Israel is that they might be saved, for they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they go about to establish their own righteousness, and not the righteousness of God. Why did Paul carry such a burden? Because he was there, he was captivated in the Jewish religion, in his mother's womb. And when God delivered him from that womb, and revealed His Son in Paul, his heart went out to them - 'that's my desire and prayer, that they would come to know the righteousness of Him!' I've had preachers tell me, 'you're too long suffering, you just allow this, and you let people go. You need to deal with it, you need to do this or that.' And every time I hear that, Galatians 5 comes to my heart concerning the fruit of the Spirit, where he says, "against such there is no law." There's no limitations - a law brings a limitation, but that working of the Spirit doesn't! Come to bear - to be a witness. John said I bear witness that He's resurrected. Not only me, but over five hundred brethren came to bear that He's raised from the dead. That's the witness of Himself that He's looking for in the earth - to bear witness of the Resurrection. That there is a people who is truly resurrected, and that Resurrected Life that He is, is Him coming forth in manifestation! That the world can look on you and me and see Him and know Him and that He is being revealed. I'm telling you that when He was in the form of flesh, He manifested God. The vessel manifested God! The Word of God says we take the members of our body and yielded them to all uncleanness. Now those same members are to be yielded to Christ! The body is dead because of sin, but is made alive because of righteousness, Romans 8 says. You've got the same body which must be yielded to something. Now I know the Body of Christ is a greater Body than this flesh body, but I'm telling you something. How can the world see and know if the Living Father was not being manifested in the vessel of clay? I think we only fool ourselves to think that we're going to go around and proclaim we're in Christ, and then the members of our body are not manifesting Christ. If any man has the Spirit of Christ, he is going to produce Christ - not flesh, not myself, he's going to produce Christ! John said, I come to bear witness. I'm not that Light, but I come to bear witness of that Light, and that the world may see and the world may know that I live by Him and that I really have no other life than HIS LIFE! The Lord is bringing us to the Truth of His Word, like in Colossians 3. "Ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." I'm telling you, that is an absolute in what the finished work of Christ has done! But the next verse says, "when...when... when Christ who is our life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." I'm telling you nothing shall be taken into the glory except that which is HIM! And that's what brings glory unto the Father. Look at John 1:15, "John bore witness of him and cried saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me; for he was before me." See, that which was from the beginning! " And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." Beloved, That Son declares the Father! Now John 3:27-36, I'll just read a portion of it. "John answered and said, A man can receive nothing except it be given him from heaven." He can't even work enough to get it. He can't pray enough to get it. Except it comes from heaven. I'm telling you, the Spirit is who reveals Christ. "He shall take of mine and show it unto you. He shall testify of me, He shall glorify me." (John 16:13-15) The true Spirit of Christ will testify only of HIM! John 5:43 says "I am come in my Father's name and ye receive me not; (if I would come in another name, you would receive me)." I'm telling you, this is the thing that the Lord is working in our hearts; that the only Name that is going to be glorified and praised and ministered is that Name that He is! And it's true - people can come in the name of a prophet, in the name of a bishop or all kinds of names, and so many things will take place there. They will begin to be honored and praised and looked up to. But I'm telling you - if you declare none but Him, for some reason it seems like they don't want to be around! John tells you that. John 7:16-18, "Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him." Glory to God! BEARING THE WITNESS! One that was before me - yes. One that I preferred before me. It is Him, the Light. In closing, the Word of God says that if our eye...that's a vision, folks. That's an illumination of the Spirit. If our eye become singular - NONE BUT HIM! Nothing but Him! If our eye become singular, then the whole Body will become full of Light! That's the reality of what the Holy Spirit is working in the members of the Body of Christ today. That He may absolutely bring forth the Living Witness and a Testimony in the earth before all the world! The scripture says that we are to be blameless before the world. I'm not sure what world that is. I've always looked at it as the natural world; those that don't even know God. That when they look at you or me, they see the Corporate Body of Christ and they will see nothing but Him! ACTIONS - WORDS - DEEDS - THOUGHTS. Only God can do this! But that is the purpose of the Father - to bring forth the exactness of Himself. Never to have a mixture, but to have the exactness of Himself! May the Lord bless you. Amen!
