THE ANOINTING by J W Luman I want to lay a foundation in where the Lord presently has me; not where I am presently perfected, not where I am in full comprehension presently, but where the Lord has me presently. And I am trusting that a greater comprehension of Him will be the result of that. And as a result of that greater comprehending of Him, a greater expression and manifestation of Him, a greater increase of Him in the earth. The Lord has been dealing with me about a three-fold view of Christ. The terms that designate that three-fold view are certainly not alien to us at all, but familiar to us. I began to see, and the Spirit of God began to bring each of these three terms into the very reality of THE PERSON; and began to define these terms by THE INDWELLING PERSON, THE INDWELLING SON, the Son Himself. Not the Son off somewhere, the Son who is in you, the Son Himself. As these terms by the Spirit began to be brought into the Person of the Son, the Spirit began to give dimension in the Person of that Son, because He gives all things its full dimension. You may have righteousness as a thing, you may have righteousness as a term. But when the Spirit of God brings righteousness into the Person of Christ, and the Person of Christ gives righteousness its definition, the Person of Christ will also give righteousness its full dimension. And you begin to know righteousness isn't a thing, but righteousness as a Person. Righteousness will not be the doing or the not doing of things, but the expressing of the nature and the character and the increase of the Person. In everything - even in your most inner things. You may have all of these Christian experiences as things - and many do. I would say most do, because most have a struggle. You have a struggle with spiritual things when you know them as things - you have a struggle being righteous when righteousness is a thing with you. This is even a spiritual reality, but something outside of Christ. Something He does, something He gives, something He commands, but it's still in a disconnected way from Him. It's still knowing righteousness, it's not you knowing Christ who is my righteousness. Knowing peace, knowing love, knowing joy - you can go on and on. Then you get into the area of gifts and into the area of graces and ministries. All of those things have got to come to be identified with Him! Because those things have no true definition outside of Him, and they have no dimension in and of themselves. They are expressions of, manifestations of, characteristics of the nature of Him! And if you cut Him off those things, you might as well take the sun off of its rays and you can just walk with a bunch of flashlights. Those things can not be attained, can not be known except in the knowing of Him! And in the knowing of Him those things begin to operate in you. And you may then come to identify them in the scripture, but what it is - IS CHRIST! It's either Christ, or it's you and I trying to love and trying to be righteous, and trying to be wise - and you can do that for a while, and you can do it under certain conditions. Finally all things must by the Spirit come into identity with Him, and be expanded in you in the expanse of Him, manifested through you and I as Him. If it's of the Spirit of God it is resident in the Person of the Son. And if it is resident in the Person of the Son, how can it truly be known or experienced except by the revelation of the Son? As it is resident in Him, as is the fulness of the Godhead bodily, then it can not be known separate from Him, as other than Him. That expands our Bibles, because now it is speaking of Him - not speaking of nine million things, it's speaking of Him, who gives nine million things their full expression, and their proper expression. It's HIM! These three terms are KING, and THRONE and KINGDOM. Just think about these. The true identity, the true dimension, the true measure of the King can only be found in the Person. It can't be with us a title, and to many it is. Many will say I'm subject to the Lord - I want to do the will of the Lord. All of those things are speaking of "kingly" kind of things. But the Lord in most of our hearts as King... King is a title. And now we're trying to figure out how to be submissive, to "let Him be King.' See - He is King! He is King, period! But until that which He is becomes absolute in you and I by the Spirit of God, with He Himself - then it's in a separate way. How many of us say, "He is Lord"? We probably know Him as Savior, and we are saying He is Lord, but there's no real Lordship operating anywhere. We're just glad we're born again, and that's wonderful. But we're saying "He is Lord". We are saying a true thing, but to most of us it's a title, it's a recognition of a title which has not yet become to be recognized as a Person. It's got to be that way. To how many Christians today is Salvation recognized as a title, as a thing, as a work of God? How far are you going to go along the road of Salvation until Salvation really becomes a Person to you? Not a religious belief; not a religious teaching, not a religious saying, but literally an Indwelling Person? And you say, 'SALVATION IS CHRIST'! Salvation becomes a Person! And HE is not just Savior, OUR SAVIOR IS OUR SALVATION! Who is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, and everything else in the Godhead. You won't go very far along the road of Salvation, not real true Salvation until it becomes a walk with a Person. And more than that - a walk in a Person! And more than that - a Person living and walking in you! That's where it begins. But there is an ever increasing revealing of Him. You are familiar in Ephesians 1:10, "That in the administration of the fulness of time, he might gather together in one all things, even in Him." It speaks of an administration of the fulness of time. The word "administration" is going to be important to us because it comes back to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is very important - the administrator of heaven and the administrator of all administrations of the Lord, is just Him - the Spirit of God. So there is an administration of the Spirit that is called the administration of the fulness of time. You know what happens when a mother who is pregnant comes to a fulness of time? There is a delivery - something comes forth; something is birthed. There is an administration of the fulness of time that births, that brings forth, that gives evidence of what God is fully after in His Son, and by His Son. Whether any of us have embarked with the Spirit of God into the realm of the fulness of that time or not, there is such a fulness of time. When you deal with the King, the Throne and Kingdom, not as things, but as dominions and sovereignties and rules of The Son, then you are dealing with an administration of that Son that truly can be said is fulness. The full administration. What is it when God brought Israel over into Canaan? Now you know He brought them out of Egypt. He brought them out with a mighty hand. He brought them out with a mighty deliverance. Unfortunately, all those that were delivered all died in the wilderness, because they wouldn't go into the fulness of what God had set before them; that fulness of which we come to find and associate in Christ Jesus. But the whole point is they did not die because they didn't come out, they died because they didn't go in! They were glad to get out of all of the misery of Egypt, they just weren't too glad to leave the luxury of the wilderness. That was where nobody beat them, and they just had to go around in circles and God fed them every day. When it came time to pressing into a land that had to be taken by just those measures - pressing in, laying hold of... well now. We don't want to go back to Egypt, but we don't want to go in - let's just go around in circles. The point is they did not face true administrations of Christ as a Person until they entered Canaan! "When they passed over this Jordan..." Oh my God, the significance of that. They might have been ignorant of it, but there was a great significance that was set down for our admonition. There is a great significance for you and I who would walk in the richness of what they had in type and shadow. There is a significance to passing over this Jordan, not just any Jordan; not just any time, not just any place. This Jordan - an opening of an administration that they have never known, because up until this time they were coming out, they weren't going into anything up until this time. Most believers that I know today, are still in some kind of a 'coming out' process. Very few have begun to go into anything. We are still trying to get out - get out of sin, get out of habits. But oh, there is a going in! Where everything comes to be viewed and revealed in a Man, an Indwelling One, The Man, The Only Man, The One of Whom we are all part, The One to Whom we must give full expression in the earth, else God's plan is not full, fully realized. The significance of the crossing of the Jordan is picked up by the Lord Jesus, brought right over by Him at His baptism in the Jordan. And the heavens opened to recognize this administration. And there's an administration of Christ that will never be effected in you until the heavens are opened. And the heavens must be opened in you - God giving you an open heaven; not a cluttered view of temporal things, but an open heaven where Christ is revealed in one administration after another after another, until the administration of the fulness of time begins to take place in you and through you and in the midst and unto the ends of the earth! But it goes no where until it takes place in you. Such an administration is what we are pointing at. They went over, and what is it that characterized the whole land? It wasn't Jericho. There was one thing that took place that gave dimension, gave definition and boundaries to the whole land of Canaan. THE MAN! The Man who appeared with a sword in His hand. The Man who said, "I am the Captain!" Joshua up until that time was sure that he was. "I am the Captain of the Lord's Host." Israel, the host of the Lord. Look at that in the original text and you'll see it takes it all into the heavenlies. The Lord's host is a heavenly thing! The Captain of the Lord's host is a heavenly one! What happened was Joshua and Israel were swallowed right up - they were transported - in type. But you and I who have been delivered from darkness have been translated into the Kingdom of His dear Son. And that's not type, that's not shadow - that's reality whether we know it or not. They were caught up in that, and all of a sudden we see the whole of that land, not just that spot. (This Man spake of the whole of the land. He typified the boundaries and the dimensions of the land.) "I will receive you unto myself that where I am there ye may be also." This Man spake of such mysteries when he said, "Take off your shoes. This journey is not yours any more, but it is my journey in a people. Remove your shoes. This is holy ground." There is one holy city, one holy place, one holy land - and that's in Christ Jesus, and it's signified by the Person of Him! And if you're in Him today then you're there, and you ought to take your shoes off; that is, you ought to learn that it is not you and I who walk, but He walks! It's not you and I who live, but He lives! It might have been your footprints up to that place, but when it gets to that place, it ceases to be you and I - not even you and I walking with Jesus - IT IS JUST HIM! This is what the significance of This Man is. There is a significance there that gathers everything into it. And it lets us to know then, that everything that is going to transpire here is of Him, pointing to Him. And that's why they are dealt with in such harshness for disobeying. And there are three distinct administrations then - all administrations of This Man that appeared: all coming right out of heaven to affect something in the earth. What is it affecting in the earth? It is affecting a people in the earth - a people who are to be the expression of a Man, a people who are to be the expression of a land, the expression of a company, of a city; the expression of a tabernacle, a temple, a mountain. All of these things finding their answer in Him. So there's something coming right out of the heavens by the Spirit of God - Administrations of Christ, administrations of The Man! And they faced three of them, and the significance of that is that it's a full work, a full administration. The first administration they faced was judges or deliverers. A great administration of deliverance, but there wasn't any King connected with that. I'm not speaking now against anything, but pointing you toward a fulness of time. There's nothing against coming across the Red Sea, but if you come across the Red Sea, and then refuse to cross this Jordan at your appointed time, you are going to die in the wilderness, that is you will not experience His fulness. The point is that it is ever ongoing and the significance really rises when you come into what Canaan talks about because then everything is not connected with Moses, not connected even with the Tabernacle - it's all connected with A Man - everything now has been brought into Him! And it's Him living in the land! And it's Him the fulness of the land! It's Him making out the boundaries of the land! The administrations that come up are His administrations. And the first one they experienced were of judges and deliverers. There is a lot to make out of that and it's a tremendous administration. You read about Samson and Gideon and all of that. There are seven. There is a fulness to an administration of deliverance that most who claim to be deliverers today have no idea about. There is a great significance to the administration of deliverance - Christ our deliverer. And there's a lot of judgment there coming upon things as well. Of course the true judgment is yet to come. And at the end of that administration - there's still nothing. At the end of that every man is doing what is right in his own sight. They are delivered and all of that, but they are still doing what's right in their own sight! You'd be surprised how many Christians want to stay right there. That's fine, but the Lord has another administration. The Prophetic Priesthood came about, and it had its problems - Eli and his sons, but finally God bringing it forth in its fulness in Samuel. Samuel having tremendous importance here. Samuel - that prophetic priesthood - and there are many involved in that today. And there's nothing wrong in that except when you make an end in that. If you do that, I have one word to say - and I don't know another word - Eli; not Samuel - Eli. Samuel, how he was marked out of God - the whole thing. He was brought up to the point of the administration of the fulness of time. Samuel here is speaking of that tremendous work and even personage of the Holy Spirit and all of that operation, which is the operation of Christ. But what administration does Samuel introduce? And not only introduce it, actually bring it into existence. The last administration, the one that marks the fulness of time - the Administration of Kings! And there were really only spiritually significant three Kings - Saul, David and Solomon. And Saul represents a view of Christ, a humanistic view of Christ, a carnal, a natural view of Christ, a temporal view of Christ, but he represents a view of Christ as King, from our standpoint. But then David represents a fuller view of Christ. And with David there are three anointings, and we'll look at that because I want to deal with the word - THE ANOINTING. Then Solomon, Solomon ending it up. Solomon the grandest picture of all. Solomon representing that which associates itself with the Son of Man coming upon the white horse in glory and the armies. And what is it? The WORD OF GOD! Yes, very much that. Blood - yes, all of that. But LORD OF LORDS, KING OF KINGS! That's the administration of the fulness of time. It was in type and shadow, and it is in the revelation of Jesus Christ, and it is in the working of the Holy Spirit in you individually and corporately. The administration comes to that of the administration of the KING! But you see our King is also a Priest. And He's after the order of an endless life! But nonetheless, that is the end of the order, and that order produces the city, the city that gives Him full expression in all the earth. So we've got the administration of the fulness of time and that's connected to the administration of the King. Now with all of these revealings of Christ - revealing of Him in you as a Person, bringing so many things into Him, awakening so many realities of Him in you - that's the work of the Holy Spirit. That is an ever ongoing work from one administration to another. You see there are ministries of deliverance today and ministries of prophesy today that have nothing to do with Christ at all, period. Maybe you've never faced any, but it's true. Yet, there are true administrations of Christ that operate and are a result of a true revealing of the Indwelling Person. What I am telling you is that there must first be a revealing in you of the Indwelling Son. He must first be Person - P-E-R-S-O-N. And everything begins to be gathered up in Him. Paul said, "It pleased God to reveal His Son in me." There, that is the beginning, that's The Man appearing with the sword in his hand and gathering up everything into a Person. What a transforming thing that is! You may go years with that, because it will eventually reach out and transform and bring things into that. But I'm telling you that connected with that Person are ever ongoing administrations, many of which have been operated in the flesh, having no real significance at all; many of which have been simply substitutes for Him by men and women who are willing to do that. But there are real administrations of Him that begin to be revealed. You really begin to know Him as deliverer. These deliverers were not working in the wilderness, these deliverers were working in Canaan! But that's as a result of the Indwelling Christ. You'll come to that, but it still leaves you without King, without Throne, and then without Kingdom, which is a manifestation of all of that. We all know Kingdom isn't something you go out and set up. KINGDOM IS THE EXPRESS DOMINION OF THE KING IN YOU AND THROUGH YOU! We all should know that the Throne is not something like a beautiful chair, but the Throne is the seat of His authority. And we should know that none of that is operative until there's a King. And that King is not a title, but a reality of a Person, an administration of the Son. What I'm telling you is that there's only one of these administrations with which the word "anointing" is connected. And that is the administration of this King - this King/Priest. But you see, you and I in Spirit-filled circles have called everything that happens the "anointing". We anoint chairs, we anoint one another, we anoint carpets, we anoint ceilings, we anoint trees. I've laid hands on lots of things, and there's a significance to that, but it's just not the anointing. We've called it the anointing and it isn't. The Anointing is not connected with deliverance. The Anointing is not connected with the prophetic priesthood. You and I do not experience the Anointing until The Son is revealed in you in the administration of the King! We may not any of us have really experienced that yet, but you have in the other things. I've had about as many feelings that any of you have ever had and I've called it the Anointing. I've said, "God, anoint this one, that one." We need to get some other word, because it's a true work of the Holy Spirit, but every work of the Holy Spirit can not be called the Anointing. It is the Anointing when it comes upon the King, the King/Priest, otherwise it isn't. In your Bible there are 25 references to the Holy Oil. There are 28 references to the anointing and there are 98 references to the Anointed and 555 references to Christ - which sums up all of this - HIM, CHRIST! But Christ in what dimension? KING! Just King! As you read all that, there are great consequences that come upon you if you put the Holy Oil on something other than the Anointed. You don't go around throwing Holy Oil on everything. The only thing Holy Oil went on was something that was itself in direct type of Christ. Whether it was the furniture, the tabernacle; it was never just an object - it was in direct reference to and fulfilled in the Person of Christ! That was in the wilderness, but then when you cross over into Canaan, it becomes more explicitly that which is upon the head of Him - Him - Him - Him - Him. Him who? THE KING! THE PRIEST! The King/Priest! Then as you progress, it finally comes down only to the King and has its greatest significance in all the Bible with David. David was the only King that was anointed with a full horn of oil, and anointed three times. I'm telling you, the Anointing is for the Anointed! There is a time when the Anointing operates in you and I and that is the time that we by the Spirit of God have been brought to the administration of the King. And there's a bunch of administrations through which we must come to get there. It isn't really you and I achieving anything, but you and I allowing Him to be revealed in us in this measure. And willing to suffer and glory in the results, the consequences. What are the consequences of full deliverance? Well, they are drastic. What are the consequences of the true work of the prophetic priesthood, the Spirit of prophesy in you? Well, that Word is absolutely overwhelming in you. That brings you to the administration of the King. This is the view in which the Lord has me. I trust that all have at least crossed this Jordan because now the Lord can really begin to gather things up in a Person and begin to function in you in that way. Then you are facing administrations of Him, right up until He has an instrument in the earth for the manifestation of His fulness. What is that? Well, His glory! What did Solomon do? Well, he brought that thing together. With what was it filled? Expression - dynamic expression - GLORY! That's what glory is. It is the ongoing, sovereign expression of the divine nature and character of God. It's not stagnant - it's ongoing, it's working, but it's just that - God having His expression in a people. We've experienced a lot of things that are glorious, but I'm talking about glory. Salvation is glorious in and of itself in any way but then there is that which is called GLORY, and His Glory shall fill the earth. We suffer these things; we count them not worthy. Why? Because of the glory that shall be revealed. See, there is such a thing as that glory - God having that expression in a people. That's what the Kingdom of God is - God having His expression. Oh yes, it has a lot of results, but that's what it is. Sometimes we look at the results it has and try to say that's the Kingdom. No - the Kingdom is God having His expression in a people - that's the Glory. As a result of that, then you've got all of these consequences that are true. But they will not be realized without the Glory. And the Glory will not be realized until the King has an administration in Mt. Zion - in a people. That's what we are talking about. I'm talking about the Anointing. When you study this you will find three terms. You will find Holy Oil - and Holy Oil is significant of the very Person of the Holy Spirit. Not just oil - Holy Oil. It is significant of the Holy Spirit because of the way it had to be done; how it was gathered and kept, and how it was used. There's so much in this, because there's going to have to be a time in our lives where we are brought into a very particular, singular and very peculiar relationship with the Holy Spirit. I'm not trying to dampen anything, but there has got to come a deep work of the Spirit - not just a superficial - a true work of the Spirit. It's got to get deep. And when you begin to look at the scripture about the Holy Oil, you really see something is being said here, and I ought to come to comprehend this kind of a relationship with the Holy Spirit. There is a reverence to which we have to come or maintain with regard to the Person of the Holy Spirit. I mean there's a significance. He's not come just to make me happy and do this and that. There is a HOLINESS ABOUT HIM that finally must grip our hearts. That doesn't make you old and prune faced and hateful, but it does capture your heart and bring it into the realm of the Holy of Holies where the King is revealed. And we've got to come to that with the Holy Spirit. And you don't have to wear a suit to do that, but we've got to do that. We can all sit on the floor cross legged - but there is a place to which we must come. So, Holy Oil is important. The other term is Anointed, and as it gets on toward the fulness of the thing it is "anointed him", anointed him. The verses of this are just beautiful. Leviticus 8:12, "And he poured the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him." The Holy Oil poured out upon the anointed (anointed him) produces the anointing. What do you call it when the Holy Oil is upon the Anointed? You call that the Anointing! But there's nothing that can be called the Anointing outside of that procedure. You can have the Holy Oil with you, but that's not the Anointing. You can have the Anointed with you - it isn't the Anointing. It is when the Holy Oil comes upon the Anointed that you have the term Anointing; an Anointing takes place, and the Anointed now walks in the Anointing. Those two work together to produce the one. It is the Holy Spirit coming in a divine agreement with the One in you. It is the two becoming one, and the one thing they become is called the Anointing. It is the Holy Oil, it is that very Spirit of God coming upon Him, the head of Him - who is the Anointed of God; called the Anointed, spoken of as the Anointed. What is it that fills the house with its fragrance then? What is it that hovers over us like a cloud? It is the Anointing! Then you walk in the Anointing, then you sing in the Anointing, then you minister in the Anointing. But until that time you do not. You do nothing in the Anointing until the Oil has come upon the Anointed, and the Anointing is exclusive to Christ; it is exclusive to Christ as King! As great as deliverance is, it's not the Anointing. This is really something. How many times have I called the wrong thing the Anointing? What is wrong with calling the wrong thing the Anointing? The Anointing is when Christ is revealed in you as King, and when that takes place whatever you do you will do under the Anointing. Because the Anointing is peculiar to that revealing of Him, and you walk in that comprehension - you are led by it, guided by it. But what is wrong with calling every work of the Spirit the Anointing? We do that and we expect the results of the Anointing and we don't see it. Then all of a sudden, the Anointing loses any real significance for us and it becomes a feeling and it becomes something that hits me about fifteen minutes into my sermon and changes the tone of my voice. Yes, you feel something, and I'm sure you feel a sensation of the Holy Spirit, but it just isn't the Anointing. You feel something stirring in your soul and you should, but that isn't necessarily the Anointing. It doesn't have to not be a work of the Spirit, but there's a peculiar work of the Spirit called the Anointing, and it only happens in one circumstance. Here's the problem. Isaiah 10:27, "And it shall come to pass in that day..." That's the day of the Anointing. We can go through the scripture and see that - the day of the Anointing. "...in that day that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulders, his yoke off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." That's the problem with calling something the Anointing that isn't - it won't destroy the yoke! And the way that we do - you can lay hands on them until you wear it out at the elbow and the yoke is still there. You can call the wrath of God down on it; you can do whatever you want to on it. The Anointing destroys the yoke. And I want to tell you that word "yoke" goes all the way through the Bible and finally we come to Galatians 5:1 and we see what it is. The Anointing will destroy that yoke - not just break it, not just make it easy to bear; because there is a yoke that Christ is that is easy to bear. But there is a yoke that the Anointing will destroy. I'm not trying to be picky, but if our words betray our understanding, maybe we ought to consider some things. "It will break the yoke." See, breaking the yoke and destroying the yoke is not really the same thing. Many of us in our dealings with God have been broken, but He wants to bring us to an association with Christ in the cross that unites us with the Throne; and there is a destroying, not just a brokenness. Oh friends, it's wonderful to be broken before God, but I tell you, there's a devastation with destruction. But then you see, you can know Him in the beauty of His Allness. My God, where He's not putting broken pieces back together. No - He's bringing Himself forth in the midst and it's just HIM! It's not me mending, it's just Him coming forth. There is a difference there. The yoke is destroyed! And not only that, the second thing - in 1 John 2:27, "The anointing which you have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you..." Now that doesn't have anything to do with exercising the ministries one to another. "need not that any man teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things and is truth and is no lie, even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." And if you look at it in the original form it brings the Anointing in direct reference to the term "HIM". Him, Him - taught by Him. How? Him in the Anointing, Him as He is revealed in you. Paul says that, "If you have heard Him and if you have seen Him, as the Truth is in Jesus." He was talking to people who had never seen Him in the flesh in their life. There is an Anointing that teacheth you all things with this regard. The issue in 1 John is not the exercise of spiritual ministries one to another, face to face, and bringing the Lord's Body to maturity. The issue is deception. The issue is being deceived. There is an Anointing that will keep you from being deceived. There is an Anointing that will tell you what is Christ and what is not Christ, because this Anointing is no lie - it is TRUTH. This Anointing is upon Him! And there is a time, the Lord Jesus said, there is a realm, where many have gone out to deceive many. Saying what? "There is no creation?" No! Saying evolution is true? No - they deceiveth many saying "I am Christ, I am the Anointed, This is the Anointing, There's the Anointing." And shall deceive many. That's the deception. But you have need that nothing teach you Christ if the Anointing abideth, because the Anointing is upon the Anointed. And if the Anointing will only come upon the Anointed, and the Anointed, the revealed of God is in you and will keep you; that will keep you in the day of deception. It will keep you when the issue is not what's the devil and what's Christ; it will keep you when the issue is what is Christ and what is not Christ! We all know not to sin, get drunk and commit adultery. We don't need the Anointing for that. There is a convicting power of the Holy Spirit that works in us, but that's not the Anointing either. Everyone that is born again has experienced that, else you wouldn't have come to be born again. But there is an Anointing friends; the Anointing shall teach you. So those two things make it imperative that we come to experience by Him the Anointing. If you do not, then you are liable to deception; if you do not you are under the yoke. What is this yoke? Galatians 5:1, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. Be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." This term "bondage", yoke of bondage refers to human bondage. But the point of that is that it is not bondage upon humanity. In one of Paul's letters he says, "Are there not divisions among you, are you not carnal and babes who need to be fed milk - and walk as men?" He says all of this is happening to you because you walk as men. And the word "men" there is translated "of human origin, human being, male or female without reference to sex or nationality, after man, after the manner of man, pertaining to mankind with reference to humanity." What is he saying? The yoke of bondage, the yoke of human bondage. Not a bondage upon humanity - it is the yoke of being human. The yoke is humanity. "Well, the Lord knows my heart, I'm just human." No - we still have a body, but we're not just human. There is a comprehension that comes with the Anointing. The Anointing does not come upon humanity. The Anointing comes upon the Anointed in you, and it destroys in you the concept, the yoke of being human, where you cease to walk as a human being, you cease to relate as a human being. The yoke is being human, and the Anointing destroys the humanity, which is that first humanity that most of us thought surely was totally destroyed when we first came to the dealings of the cross. Only to find that here in the Great Anointing, in the last administration, there is still in us a humanity to be dealt with. This humanity is trying to serve God, and do things for God and all of that. That is pictured in Saul, but Saul never experienced this Anointing; search the scripture, he never experienced this kind of Anointing that literally destroys the humanity. We'll talk about the three-fold Anointing. We'll talk about the three- fold Anointing of David that brought all of Israel into the fulness of Mt. Zion, where finally Solomon builds the temple, and the significance of it, because all of this is set forth in significance. All of this designates not only a work of the Holy Spirit, a necessary work of the Holy Spirit. What is the end of the thing? The end of the thing is a temple coming together to give God glory in the earth. And I'm telling you, if you want to get to that end, this is the way you've got to come. You can run around and preach glory until your tongue fall out - there is no glory but by this Anointing. There is no coming together of the temple but by this Anointing. You are not going to get it together on the basis of doctrine, on the basis of what we believe about heaven or all of the other things we try to create fellowships on. You may put something together that way, but you are going to have a hard time holding it together; and even if you hold it together, if it doesn't manifest Christ, there's no glory to it. It is the glory that brings together the temple of God, whose stones have been prepared without great fanfare and noise. Paul brings that right over and says, "fitly joined together". Fitly joined together, growing up into Him, into a habitation of God. What takes place in the heavens must be manifested in the earth - it has to be. It's by the Anointing. You can't just jump over there and look at the House and say 'isn't this wonderful?' The Anointing brought that forth. Anointing does that - the revealing of the King, Him establishing His Throne, the exercise of His Kingdom - but all of that is by the Anointing. All of that is by a very peculiar movement of the Holy Spirit upon Him, and the resulting of it in you is the Anointing - living by it, speaking by it, walking in it. It breaks the yoke. The yoke of humanity is broken and it teaches you all things pertaining to the Truth. It does distinguish in you what is Christ and what is not Christ. That's what the Anointing will do, and only the Anointing will do it. And you will - not you can - you will. Jesus said, "you will... except the very elect, you will be deceived." There will be a point in your life - this is individually, this is corporately for the Church; it may have taken place in every generation, I don't know. But there will be a point in your life that you will, without this Anointing, you will be deceived. You will call something Christ that isn't Christ. How far you go along with that I don't know - but you will. The Anointing is necessary to what God is after - in a people and in the earth. You can't go with Him, into His fulness and never experience the Anointing. No wonder the enemy has taken great delight to call so many things the Anointing that are not the Anointing. And we think we have experienced the Anointing! We have experienced some wonderful things, but not the Anointing, because the yoke is still there - things that can deceive. THEY CAN NOT ABIDE WHERE THE ANOINTING IS! And it's not something I can put on you. We can speak to one another in the Anointing, having experienced it; or we can speak to one another without the Anointing. The Anointing is not something I do or you do - The Anointing is wrought in you by the working of the Spirit upon the Anointed - knowing Christ in a very specific way. And then we do what we do in that Anointing and in the acknowledgment of that Anointing. What a joy! What a difference! So these three elements make up the Anointing: the Holy Oil which typifies the Holy Spirit, and the Anointed, Him upon which that oil is poured, combining to give us the third element which is the Anointing. We bring that over into Christ. The Anointing is when the Holy Spirit reveals Christ in you - not that He is in you - reveals Him in you, in a dimension referred to as King. This brings us into elements of the administration of the fulness of time. And I say elements because that administration is so vast. There is such a tremendous working in us of this understanding of Christ, understanding of the Son as King. In those believers in whom Christ has genuinely been revealed, we must understand the tremendous consequence of that realization - that He is in me. Given enough time with a Christian, I can convince you in the scripture, theologically that Christ is in you. And many are so convinced, but we're not talking about that. We're talking about those in whom there has been a genuine God-given, Holy Ghost revealing, in whom The Son is revealed. Paul testified, not in the end, but at the absolute beginning, "It pleased God to reveal His Son in me." That must take place. And we have equated that with the Man appearing in Canaan. They entered into Canaan and there was not a land laid before them to see - there was a fulness of a Man set before them to see! That was already prefigured before them with Abraham. You are familiar with Genesis 12 - that's the calling out of Abraham. Abraham is told to leave his father's house, leave this, leave that, and all that leaving is necessary. But what else? "Go to a land that I will show you." The word there, ra- ah, in the Hebrew means "that which is revealed of God or shown of God." It has nothing to do with natural vision. Go to a land that I will show you. Abraham starts and he came to the place inhabited by the Canaanites and something wonderful is said there. The promise is - go to a land that I will show you. "And the Lord appeared to Abram." And the word "appeared" is the same word as "show" - ra-ah. So what is it? How did the Lord fulfill His promise really? And the Lord showed Himself to Abram and said, here, this is it, this is your possession, to be possessed by your seed. And every time the land was referred to after that it was always, "Lift up now thine eyes from the place where thou standest." Lift up your eyes, which is the spiritual exaltation of the soul into a higher realm of recognition. GOD HAS NEVER SHOWN ANYTHING BUT HIMSELF as the possession of His people! And as the dwelling place of His People. He has never shown His people a place or a thing other than Himself. And you don't dwell in a place or a location other than CHRIST! Your dwelling is in Him. And whatever the Lord may expand and make that mean to you, because it means a great deal, nonetheless, it is in Him! It's in Him! And the mystery of God in Christ, the mystery of that reality of being in Christ is beyond comprehension. So they began in Canaan. This is just a fulfillment of what God in a minuscule way showed Abraham and now it's being worked out in Israel. It just comes right over and is worked in you and I as the Church, which is the fulness of it, the reality of it. First in Abraham, secondly in Israel, thirdly and finally in the Church, all of that reality comes to take place. But my point is - A MAN APPEARED! Canaan has just been swallowed up in a Man; Israel has been swallowed up in a Man. Their journey now is in Christ, their journey is in a Man - learning Him and giving Him manifestation in the earth. This is the purpose of the Church, the Lord's Body. Not just busyness in doing things, but expressing Him in all things. That will keep you busy! If the Church is not giving Him expression then the Church is failing its purpose, regardless of what else it's doing. Israel can do whatever they want to, but it is these administrations of Christ that is coming forth in them and developing within them. Don't ever forget all of these judges, all of these administrations are all developed within Israel. All of this is developed. Why? Because it's a developing of Christ. "That Christ be formed in you." There is a forming of Him, administration after administration, realm after realm, view after view until we finally come to this view of which we are speaking - KING - the administration of the fulness of time. And it is with that administration that the Anointing is connected. None of the other administrations required such an Anointing. They required the Holy Spirit coming upon, they required the Holy Spirit energizing - all a work of the Holy Spirit. Every revealing of Christ in you is of the Holy Spirit because only He can reveal Christ. But in what realm? It's in whatever realm you can stand. Because one prepares you simply for another and yet another - on in the fulness of Him. We only make mistakes when we stop; when we build our lives or our ministries on something less than His fulness. So it keep us always being stretched out, always looking beyond, always going on, pressing on. That's the way we should be kept. And it is His administration working in us. It is when the Holy Spirit moves upon, comes into agreement with The Son in you as King that the Anointing takes place. Not as deliverer and not in the vast realm that is involved in the prophetic priesthood, but as King. Then we have to deal with the consequences of that King and the Throne and the Kingdom. But you see, until there is an Anointing, there is none of that. What is knowing Him as King and the establishment in you of the Throne, the expression of the Kingdom except one greater comprehension of Christ upon and out from another? That's what it is. Paul saying, "I would that you would come with all saints to comprehend Him in His fulness." That's really what he's saying there. At the end of his days Paul uses another word, "apprehend", but it's translated from the same word "comprehend". "Oh, that I may comprehend that for which I am comprehended of God." Isn't that beautiful? God has comprehended a people in Christ, and He wants that people to come to His comprehension concerning themselves and Christ. Paul says it another way - "to know as we are known." We are very much short of God's comprehension. Folks, if we just comprehended Salvation as God comprehends Salvation, the earth literally could not contain you! God's comprehension is so consequential with you. God's comprehension is so dynamic and transforming - when we come to see in His view. And His view is all wrapped up in Christ! He brings us to see everything in the seeing of Christ. Finally He brings us to see ourselves, ourselves as the Church, ourselves as we are made by Christ Jesus! He brings everything into definition by Christ. Most of us don't. But by the Anointing that becomes a reality. No - not a bunch of little Jesuses - we are after one expression of Jesus in the earth, one expression of Him. We don't need any more gods - we just need a New Creation giving one God full expression. That what we're talking about here. But it's all through the revealing of The Son. All of those realms, all of those dominions, all of that is in Him in you - just waiting to be revealed, to give God His full expression. Now that's Salvation, friends. So coming toward the fulness of that, we are dealt with of the Lord concerning this business of King, and that's where we come into the Anointing. We mentioned that the Holy Spirit moves upon the Person of Christ as King/Priest. I'm dealing with Him as King, but He really is King/Priest. You really can't separate the two. As King He established His Throne and is exercising His Dominion. As Priest He brings us into the very Presence of the Most High. As Priest He brings us into Himself, into His abode. "Where I am, you are." Hebrews 8,9,10. It starts out, "Now the sum of the matter is this." Sum of what? The sum of everything that is said up to Hebrews 8. "Now the sum of the matter is this. We have such a High Priest." Minister of a new sanctuary. He makes of you a sanctuary, not made with hands. Then on into the ninth chapter and tenth, whereby coming by a new, a living way; coming, being brought. Our High Priest brings us right there - where you dwell in the Presence... See, when we say "presence" we've got this Pentecostal idea of mist filling the room. "Oh, didn't you feel the presence of the Lord?" Ok, well yes, that's a sensation. But I'm talking about He brings us into the presencing... I just want to keep saying "Person." I didn't say He made God out of you. He brings you into the bosom of the Father. He brings you into an everlasting, eternal acknowledgment and understanding and comprehension of union - bosom dwelling. And it is out from there that everything that is true - like true praise, true worship, comes. Let me say that true praise and true worship is not what you do. True praise and true worship is who you are! You become a praise in the earth, you become a worship in the earth. It doesn't mean we don't praise and worship, but to everything we do there is a greater reality in Christ; there is a greater reality in not the doing of it, but actually becoming the expression of it in the earth. It doesn't mean you every stop doing it. But how many say 'Bless the Lord, Sweet Jesus' and their lives are far from a praise? And their conduct is far from a worship; their motivations are far from any of that - outside the doing of the praise and worship occasionally? That's what the Priest does. As He expands, He first must be King. King - He is King of Righteousness, King of Peace. This is a King and Priest after the order of Melchizedek - that's the order of an endless life, and that's fulfilled in the Person of Christ; that's not a bunch of people not getting gray headed, but that's fulfilled in the Lord Jesus, and has its manifestation in a people - who have an endless life. And who become motivated by that endless life. Remember we talked about not being under the bondage of being human? See - an order of endless life! That human body is either going to be transformed or it's going to be buried - one way or the other. But that's not the thing - no, there's an order of an endless life. That's not some hope off in the sky somewhere, that's a reality. And it is to be fully realized in a people. And all of heaven, and every saint that has ever gone there by the grave waits breathlessly for such a manifestation to come forth in the earth, because that is their great release. If you think the saints of God are up there fishing, you're wrong. No - all of heaven waits for such a revealing, such a manifestation of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings - an administration of an endless life. So the Priest brings us right in there. But the King! And the Holy Spirit moving upon anything or anyone other than Christ in this way as King is not the Anointing. It is certainly a move of the Holy Spirit, and it is only wrong when we say that's the Anointing. And we talked about why that's wrong, because the Anointing breaks the yoke and those other movements will not. The Anointing teaches all things, the other administrations simply do not. It is an administration of the Holy Spirit, but comes short of that. Why would an administration of the Holy Spirit come short of anything? Because He's working in a people that must come that way - He is working in a people who must grow and come that way. So He brings them that way - administration to administration; first line upon line, precept upon precept, then administration upon administration. You can call it glory to glory to glory; the scriptures do that and say, "as by the Spirit of the Lord." Beholding Him - as in a glass - changed, transformed, into that same image from glory to glory. This is the work of the Spirit. That's why some administrations come short of fulness, but it's an administration of the Spirit revealing Christ in you. What I want to get across is that there is an administration - whether any of us have experienced it or not - there is that administration to be known, to know Him in that way. It's set forth in Israel. Israel is going to have a King after God's own heart and after God's own thought. The end of that is going to be a temple - THE HOUSE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OF THE GOD OF ALL THE EARTH! The glory of God is going to have visible manifestation in the earth. All of that is set forth in Israel for our admonition. It is set forth in Christ, in Him for manifestation. And not only that, Paul looks into the reality of that, the mystery of that and says all creation groans, travails and waits for such a glorious thing. Certainly our Salvation is measured right to that very end, that very fulness of Christ. So the Holy Spirit coming upon anything - you, me, whatever - is not the Anointing. The Anointing is peculiar to this one revealing, ongoing, never ending revealing of Christ. I say never ending because in the scripture, you deal with David - what is said is eternal, everlasting in the heavens, ongoing. What is it? The Throne! The Kingdom, the Government of the King - this is a never ending revealing of Him, never ending, ongoing Anointing! To which there is no end! You're not going to get to the end and run out of this administration, because this administration has no end! It is the administration of the fulness of time by which He shall gather all things. So in connection with that, the true Anointing will totally devastate all but the Anointed! When I began to realize that and it began to be more than just a statement, I thought, O God, all the things I've tried to get God to anoint. And it just devastates! When He anoints His Son in this way, those things are devastated. Everything you've tried to get anointed is devastated. The true Anointing devastates all but the Anointed. We'll see that in the three-fold Anointing. And we mentioned the breaking of the yoke of human bondage, and the teaching of all things. I want to say one thing about breaking the yoke of human bondage. We read Isaiah 10:27, "And in that day (the day of the anointing) thy burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder..." That's the Adamic burden. That's the burden of humanity. The whole of God's plan deals with two men; an old one and a new one. One that humanity is, and one that Christ is. See, we want to be part of both of them. Well, you're not! Not in that way. Yes, we have to do with the New Man, but Christ is the New Man! We give Him expression. We're also called a city, a temple, a mountain, a Body. What is all of that? To give Him expression! No one term could identify that organism that is for His full expression. Mountain, city, temple - they all say something, but not all about it. So we are identified as all those things, but the point of it is all those things are measured by HIM! They are truly defined by Him! What is the city without Him as the light? The bigger it is, the darker it is. If it has no light, you don't want it to be very big, because the bigger it gets the darker it gets. So we're the City of God. Big deal! Except Christ be revealed in you, you are dark as a dungeon, and you are just manifesting the works of the flesh. So all of these things are wonderful, but they're all for His expression - all for Him. So the plan of God is dealing with two men - an old one and a new one. As we have born the image of the old, so shall we, so must we bear the image of the second. That second man who is the Lord from heaven. So here we have these pronouns. And God is talking about nations in Isaiah 10, but this business of taking off of your shoulders... his burden...his yoke from off thy neck. The yoke shall be destroyed because of the Anointing! Now, I've heard a lot of sermons. "The yoke shall be destroyed because of the Anointing - let's have a prayer line." That's not the Anointing. If you want to get somebody healed, do that. If you want to lay hands on each other for this reason or that, go right ahead. Do whatever the need requires. But the Anointing is not that. The Anointing is exclusively upon the Anointed; it is a comprehension in which you may do those things, but it is a comprehension that stands above and beyond all other things. You may sing or preach in the Anointing, but the Anointing must come first. Why? Because without the Anointing there is no King, without the King there is no Throne, without the Throne there is no Kingdom, without that there is no expression of God in His fulness in the earth! I want you to see how important the Anointing is; how important it is that this take place in Israel, in God's holy mount; how important it is that this take place in the Father's household. The Anointing of the King - releasing a Kingly administration, releasing the Lord in that dimension of His Allness. That Anointing is all important. I want you to hear that and begin to allow the Lord to give you Godly discrimination with regard to the Anointing. We say nothing against all the glorious moves and movements of the Holy Spirit bringing Israel to this place. But if you miss this place, all of those movements and dealings of God with Israel still do not amount to the King. It's all to bring us there. So let's be careful that we don't substitute. And in that line, Isaiah 58:6. This speaks of those who walk in that Anointing, in that revealing of the King. "Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burden, to let the oppressed (of human bondage) go free..." God's people are so oppressed. I don't deal with anybody but God's people. I know the Church does, but there are a lot of oppressed in God's people, in ministry; oppressed with human bondage. Our humanity becomes an oppression, and an obsession. We look at ourselves first as humans - humans on our way to heaven. That's oppressive. "...to set the oppressed...that you break every yoke." What is the true ministry of Christ? What is the true ministry of the King? In His kingdom He releases His people! In His Kingdom He rids them of the yoke of human bondage. What is the purpose of those that labor in this Anointing? To do just that in the Church! I'll tell you friends, there is no rest in my bosom until every born again believer is out from the yoke of bondage and the ignorance of humanity. I appreciate what I see in the Lord's Body, but God's people are so oppressed. You look outside in your community and you care - that's humanity in bondage. But I'm talking about the bondage of humanity in you! That's what I'm dealing with. And we'll deal with humanity in bondage a whole lot better and more truthfully and more powerfully when we come from the bondage of humanity. We'll bring them into a much more glorious Salvation - we will present Salvation to them in a much more glorious way. Here it is - this is the fast that I have chosen for you. Not to go around long faced and looking sad on Salvation. Here's what I've chosen for you. Is it not to set the oppressed free? Is it not to break every yoke? Until every believer is comprehending. This is what Paul said - until we come in unity of the faith, the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, the measure of the fulness of the age of Christ Himself! This is it. And the Anointing works that in us. So we'll talk about the Anointings of David - God's concept of the King. Saul was Israel's concept and Israel's view. David was God's concept and God's view. And David had three Anointings. Not three Anointings to make him King, three Anointings so that Israel would recognize him as King. He was King after the first one, but he was only known in a household. He was King after the second one, but he was only known in Judah, and by those who had come from other places and had joined him. But in his third Anointing all of Israel bowed the knee and recognized what had been set forth in Jesse's house years before. There is then first the Anointing that devastates. That's in 1 Samuel 16. I mentioned that the Anointing coming upon anything but Christ devastates all but the Anointed, and it will do that. If you think that the Anointing is going to lift you up, it isn't; it's going to lift HIM UP! Well, are we not magnified with the Lord? Yes, we are magnified by the Lord, but there is a certain lifting up of ourselves that the Anointing will not allow. The Lord lifts up His people, yes, in the expression of Himself you are lifted up. But so many of His people seek to lift themselves up - on behalf of the Lord. The Anointing will not permit that. God will allow that for a while. And many administrations of the Holy Spirit will "wink" at that, but this one won't. This to all but the Anointed is a devastating thing. The second Anointing takes place in 1 Chronicles 12. they are going out to David at a place outside of Israel - Ziklag. It's a place of a cave. It is a great gathering unto David and as a result of that he is anointed the second time by those very men when he brings them into Hebron, which is the place of fellowship, and secures them there for seven years. The second Anointing gathers. Friends, all of my ministering life I have tried and I have seen others try in small ways to international ways to bind God's people together, bind God's ministry together. I'm telling you, except it be by this Anointing, what you are using is nothing short of cheap glue - it will not work. The best of intentions will not make it work. You can't even do that in a local fellowship. Except it be bound up in the knowledge of Christ, and then beyond that, gathered up in this Anointing, because this is the Anointing that gathers. And it's the only one in the whole of the Bible that does. This gathering spoken of in 1 Chronicles 12 is said to be like the very HOST OF GOD! What does that do? It takes it right back to that Man that appeared to them and said, "I'm the Captain of the Host." This is a gathering in the heaven that is irresistibly manifested in the earth. Read 1 Chronicles 12. It says in the first place, "These are they..." That's identity, isn't it? These are Baptists? No. These are Pentecostals? No, none of that applies. These are Danites? No. These are Benjamites? No, none of their tribes. It goes on and said what they came out of, but now we're looking at their identity. "These are they who came TO DAVID to Ziklag." They didn't come to Ziklag; and Ziklag represents that place of the cave, that place of surrender, that place of death, that place of laying down and knee bending and neck breaking, and all of that. They didn't come to that - they came TO DAVID, and that was the result. We always get it backward. We try to be broken before coming to David. We try to be broken without seeing Christ. All you can do is repent, and you should repent. But I'm telling you that you can't come to that brokenness by repentance, because that brokenness is thorough. How are these known? Who are all these? "These are they..." We say these came from here, and these came from there, and it goes on and relates that. Most of us are known by our backgrounds and we base our relationships on them. Backgrounds meant nothing here. Some of these tribes fought each other like cats and dogs. Some of these men came out of Saul's own household and most of these others hated them. But there's a blending here, and the blending wasn't upon their background. Another thing we do - we all try to get together on the basis of what we left; we get together on the basis of what we don't like, or somebody we don't like. We do that. But these men, what was it? They were coming out as mighty men, they were men of battle. They could throw with a bow with either hand, they were tremendous men of position. Here they all come - one by one, two by two, and like the Host of God they were gathered. What was it? Were they running from Saul, mad at Saul, rebelling against Saul? No - they were not rebels coming out, weren't mad at anybody. "Let's go blend the tribes!" No - that wasn't their intention. They weren't trying to put something together. Every single one that came out had one motivation in his heart - I AM GOING TO DAVID! I'm going to the Anointed! I'm going by the Anointing! These are they that came to David. Their loyalty to one another was as unto David, because it was unto David. Laying down their lives one to another in service of David. That's quite a group of men, quite a ministry, quite a fellowship. "God is faithful, who has called us into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." It's that fellowship that David was prefiguring there. It is that fellowship that Paul speaks of. So when one is called from here and one is called from there; because He does that, He calls them from one end of heaven to another end of heaven. You think you're called from one end of the earth. No - you go out to the ends of the earth. He's rounding up the heavens. And when He joins us together in that spiritual way, in that heavenly reality, that in Him we are bound up, in this Anointing, in this comprehension of Him - whatever is bound up in the heavens will be so manifested in the earth. It is irresistibly so. You are going to see some strange things coming together in the earth. Backgrounds would have suggested it would never happen; past things would have suggested it could never be done. Now you can refuse to be gathered in the heavens. But if you are gathered into this Anointing, that gathering will be made manifest in the earth. And in that gathering there is no schism, because there is ONE CAPTAIN! And all else is administrations of Him. What a gathering! What a fellowship! I long to see in fulness, not just in little ways that we see it now, that fellowship in manifestation in the earth. Because that was the witness to all of Israel. When Israel finally came to realize they had no King, it was that binding and that gathering unto David in Judah that became the witness to all of Israel, and brought about the third Anointing of David. God saw in that little band His full intention for all of Israel, that all of Israel would come to David and be bound up in that way. And when they came, they were. What did Israel say in that third Anointing? In 2 Samuel 5 when they came to recognize him? They fell down before him and said, "David thou son of Jesse, we are bone of thy bone, we are flesh of thy flesh." Why? Because the witness had been established in the men gathered in Judah, and that fellowship in Hebron for seven years had established God's thought for all of Israel. God didn't abandon Israel for that fellowship of believers. No, it was the other way around. That fellowship was to be a witness to all of Israel, that all of Israel may come. Not all that call themselves Israel, but all Israel; all that are truly Israel, all that are truly His, and the Lord knoweth them that are His, and the sheep of His pasture. He sees in that second Anointing and in those men His intention for all of Israel and Israel comes to that intention. And as a result of it, David takes them to Zion, to the high thought of God, established His Throne in their midst, and what at last is Israel called? Not just Jerusalem, but all of Israel representatively are brought there. CITY OF THE KING! For the first time Israel is identified not by tribe, but by One Man - THE KING! City of the King! Have they not been Israel? Oh yes, but misidentified, lesser identified, which gives room for all of the wars and all of the schisms and all of the divisions. Done away in the third Anointing, done away when David established His throne in the top of Mt. Zion, answering to Psalms 2 - Christ finally fulfilling all of that. But friends, He fulfills that in a people. He doesn't fulfill that in a galaxy or in stars. He fulfills that in a people, in a creation, in a Kingdom. The second Anointing gathers. The third Anointing glorifies. David brought Israel to glory. He brought back the Ark of the Covenant of God, lifted the flaps on the tent that all of Israel might behold it. What a glorious thing! Saul didn't do that, Saul didn't even have a mind to do that. There is a concept of Christ in the Church today that totally disregards anything of glory except in a songbook talking about 'by and by', and that bothers me. "Gloryland Road." Oh, my! And we still sing that in one concept or another. And there is a view of Christ that just denies God's people coming into glory, coming into that union that gives God expression. But David brings that about. Later on Solomon brings all that together, and that is yet another administration of the King - the third one, the final one in Israel. After that you know there weren't any more real Kings. They were just marking time until the Lord came. And there was one restoration after another restoration - all of that until Christ came. 1 Samuel 16, " And the Lord said to Samuel, how long wilt thou mourn for Saul..." How long are you going to mess with this concept of Christ? This has nothing to do with your burden for sinners or your burden for ministry. I have long ago given up on the system. I didn't say people in the system, I said the system - trying to make it work, trying to pull it together, trying to be a part of it. You see this is man's view - it is a view of Christ - it is not a view of the devil. Saul represented a view of the King that was just man's view. And it took Israel a long time; they like to have never gotten out of that view. They weren't in bondage to the Philistines, they were in bondage to the wrong view of the King! God anointed David twice, and Israel was still in another view. Now how wrong can you be, how in bondage can God's people today be concerning the reality of Christ, and still name the name Christ? I'm telling you, very, very wrong. And we must minister to these people in an outreach way, but here Samuel is laboring with that, trying to make it work, trying to make it shape up, trying to make it obey God - and it isn't going to obey God. And it isn't going to shape up. It's the wrong view. And finally the Lord just says, how long are you going to do this? "Quit praying for Saul. I have rejected him..." But look. As what? "...as King." In this view I've rejected Saul. I've rejected Saul as King over my people Israel. That is not the view. Now He says, you give yourself totally to this view. I'm going to tell you something friends, if you continue with the Lord, you will face this time element. It is the beginning of the fulness of time in your heart. God measures that - you and I don't, but it's the beginning of that administration. And it will require your every waking moment, effort, breath, energy, strength, acknowledgment - all. It will require it all. Because not only was He told to quit praying for Saul, God had rejected him... that wasn't the message. The message is " Fill your horn with oil." There's an Anointing to take place. "Fill your horn with oil." Here is the fulness. Here is the thing that Samuel was born for. Here is the purpose of the prophetic priesthood brought right down to a moment in time. "Fill your horn with oil and go..." I'm telling you, this will take place in you when the ministry of the Godhead in you comprising that glorious union of Father, Son and Holy Spirit; there will be a time in you when that kind of conversation and acknowledgment will begin to be realized in you. And it will be as though the Father is saying, "It is time. It is time to Anoint My King in that household." He's always Anointed first in His Father's House. What does He say about that to you and I? John 14, " In my father's house..." Where has He brought us? What has He made of us? Dwelling places! My Father's House. Where I am - that's where the Anointing takes place first. IN YOU! It doesn't depend upon any other household. Now it will spread, yes - all those men. But where did it start? One household, one individual, if you please, one believer. I don't wait on you in this respect, you don't wait on me in this respect. But if you follow on to know the Lord, you will be brought to this kind of dealing, when the Holy Spirit will completely bring His dealings and gather up all of His dealings for the Anointing of The King! I can't place the emphasis upon it that the Spirit of God places upon it, but I do want you to remember that there is such a time. You can't just decide I'm going to do this. But if you go on to know Him, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit, but it becomes distinct as to THE KING. It was distinct as to the deliverers and it was to the prophetic priesthood, it's got to become distinct as to the King. It's got to be that way. There's a time that I must, for the sake of Israel, not against Israel; for the sake of all the Church, not against the Church, turn my face from any other view than that view that is set forth in the revealing of Christ. Why? For the sake of the Church! It must be done. For the sake of Israel David must be anointed in his father's house, whether Israel recognized him or not. And when David was anointed in Jesse's household, one household, amid obscurity, buried off in the middle of nowhere, He revealed His King in that household, but in effect, did He not reveal His King in Israel? Now that brings us into great consequences, because from that time on God dealt with all of Israel and all of the lands and nations around Israel according to this Anointing. I'm saying that God could never again deal with Israel as though Saul was King. God's dealings were never again along that line, and that's why everything came to cross purposes - Saul tried to kill David and all of that. Because God simply could not go against His own Anointing. The implications of this are mind boggling, because when God reveals His Son in one believer, has He not revealed His Son in the whole of His Body? Will God not then begin to deal with His Body according to that which He has revealed in one believer? It will bring a lot of persecution on that one believer, because Israel is not going to receive that - they've got their sights set on another version of Christ. Christ - but another version, a lesser version. And where there's one individual, or one group of individuals, or one minister, God has done it in the whole, and He is faithful to that. Look at Paul. God revealed Christ in him, in an ever ongoing way He revealed The Son in him, and immediately God began to deal with the whole Church along that line. It brought Paul to cross purposes with the brethren at Jerusalem, brought him to cross purposes with Peter, brought him to cross purposes with many. Not because he was arrogant and contrary, but because of the Anointing. And Paul could not go against the Anointing, and God would not go against the Anointing. No - all of Israel must come to this Anointing; all of Israel must come to this view of the King. Now that will light a fire in you! This is not against Israel, this is for Israel's Salvation. This is not against the Church, this is for the Salvation of the Church, that the Lord has done this thing. And something else that's in this verse. Once the ministry of the Holy Spirit, once the ministry of Samuel is set - "Go to Jesse's house, the Bethlehemite, for there among his sons, I have provided me a King." Once the ministry of the Holy Spirit is so set in your life, you might as well get used to it, because He isn't going to back up into other administrations. 'Last year I was permitted to do this or that.' Well, that's tough - a different administration now, a different view of Christ now. The administration of Christ doesn't allow that. That's not sin, that's not even wrong, it's just not allowed by this view. You don't fight it, many times it will just fight you. David never did fight Saul. Saul tried to kill him every time he turned around. Saul tried to kill him when he was helping him! All David wanted to do was minister to him, and Saul wanted to kill him. He wanted to kill him because his ministry to him was successful! David never did want to kill Saul. Why? Because that's not the mind of the Spirit. See, Saul represented a view, though a lesser view. You don't fight lesser views. You set your face for a greater view! Not out to destroy, my God, to save Israel - the Church. Now that system that has replaced the concept of the Church - I have no use for that. But God's people - the Church - the captives, the oppressed, the lame, the maim, the halt, the blind. 'Til every yoke is broken, 'til every eye sees, 'til every ear hears, 'til every heart knows, UNTIL ISRAEL MAKES DAVID KING! Not just has a King - they have a King now. Until they make David King. Not just have a view of Christ - they've got a view of Christ. Until they have a true view of Christ - a view of Him as revealed by His Father, and as this view as KING! Not only does the ministry of the Holy Spirit go towards this and bring you here; not only does God begin to deal with everything around you according to that Anointing, but deals with His whole Church according to that Anointing. That's probably the reason so many of us in ministry in the Church don't understand the dealings of God with us, because He's dealing with us according to his Anointing in somebody. Somebody's pressed through to a real revealing of Christ and God begins to deal with Israel accordingly, bringing them to that view. Why? See, I've breezed through this, but there's a lot to what I am telling you - of God dealing with Israel on account of what is taking place in this household. God is bound up in that Anointing to deal with Israel accordingly, and Israel does not know what's going on. And Saul doesn't either. And all he can do is just get mad at it and try to kill it, discredit it and finally, run him out of Israel. David was out there hiding in a cave, because he doesn't want to fight with Saul. And there's the real King of Israel. But even there the Anointing gathers; most particularly there the Anointing gathers those who will forsake all and go to David; those who will go unconditionally to David, with no hope of ever regaining the position they left, finding another, a new - in David. Going not into "Kingdom Reign" but into FELLOWSHIP! Kingdom reign is only as good as the relationship that he comes out from. We want to go out and conquer the world; better our hearts be conquered first! So the King brought them into fellowship first - seven years fellowship - that's what made the Kingdom mighty in his time - it came out of fellowship. It's an ongoing view of Him, but it starts right here. I said this first Anointing devastates. Here's seven sons in this household; David is the eighth. David is the eighth, which makes him the first. Here are these seven sons representing a household, and they all run out, one by one for the Anointing. How many times have I brought out my best sons, the best that I can offer, because nobody's going to run some old trashy something out there for God! 'Surely the Lord will anoint this.' Devastate, yes. There is a word in verse 1, "I have rejected him." Verse 7, "I have refused him." It is something like three or four times in the Hebrew that this same word has been used, because it means "rejected", it's the same word. And I thought, my God, God's attitude towards those boys is the same as it is toward Saul. Why would that be? So I looked up their names and thought their names probably meant jealousy and envy and strife. No, their names meant things like 'Beloved of the Father' and 'Obedient to the Father', and I thought there isn't anything wrong with this! Why? Why would He reject them? Because the word "reject" means "counted as though it never existed - just washed out, gone." Why did God count Saul that? Because Saul was a view of something other than Christ. He was King, but not God's King; a view of Christ but not God's view of Christ. What is that? That's Anti-Christ. The word Anti-Christ is used four times in your Bible in the writings of John and it means "substitute for Christ". It has nothing to do with the devil, it means substitute for Christ. Doesn't that make sense? What could be passed off as Christ and not be Christ than something substituted for Christ? Anti-Christ. It's a deceiver. The Anointing teacheth us all things. The Anointing is your guard against the mark of the Anti-Christ! Receiving a substitute. These boys were substituted for the Anointed, and God looked at it with hate, He looked at it with disgust and He said, I have refused him! Then He gives Samuel a little lesson. "Man looks on the outward appearance..." Saul - big, tough, all this stuff. "God looks on the heart." "I've refused him. I have rejected him." That's devastation. Those things in me and you, those good things, those wonderful things I've based a great deal on, come to be devastated in this time of the Anointing. This is particularly so when you and I seek that recognition from God for those things, and it is in our nature to do that, it's in our zeal for God to do that. What did they do wrong? They just ran out there to be Anointed. But look, verse 8, the last part, "...neither hath the Lord chosen this." The last part of verse 10, "...The Lord hath not chosen these." There's One whom the Lord chooses, the chosen of the Lord, the chosen of Israel, the chosen of heaven - GOD'S SON - IN WHOM YE ARE CHOSEN! What's wrong with this? God hath not chosen, that's all. He didn't say because they're sorry reprobates. No - because they weren't; they just weren't David, they were not the chosen of the Lord. GOD ANOINTS HIS CHOSEN; whom He hath chosen, He Anoints. And we bear the Anointing in our lives, in our ministries. It's released like a fragrance in you - it is a fragrance. The Anointing is a fragrance. It was released. When does that take place? It takes places when The King is Anointed - the Anointing is released. It devastates everything else. Now, the boys come out. 'Is this it? Have you emptied the house yet? Well, there's one more - he's in a whole other administration. Okay, send for him.' Look, the last part of verse 11, "Send and fetch him, for we will not sit down until he come hither." There will be a time in your life, individually and corporately when everything of the Spirit will stop until He appears, until He comes, until He is revealed and Anointed. The Lord will do that, because this is the beginning of the fulness of time. He didn't say send somebody after him and let's eat, let's get on with the sacrifice and the offering, let's go. No, because the whole purpose of his coming is the Anointing, and he adds great significance to it with these little words, "You go get him. We will not so much as sit down until he comes." That's the way it's got to be in your heart, that's the way it's got to be in your household before the King will appear to be Anointed. All activities of the Spirit stop, and you've got a household waiting ON HIM! IN GREAT ANTICIPATION! Let it be so in us! AMEN.
