Like so many questions asked by the human mind, there is no “yes or no” answer until we consider what, or Who Salvation is.

I believe Salvation to be Christ Himself living by His Eternal Spirit in the believer. The new birth is Christ Himself being “birthed”, in Spirit, in the believer. He is the New and Living Spirit of Life.

In light of this understanding of Salvation, the believer is said to be “in Christ”, that is to say our soul is in living union with the very Spirit of Life which is Christ. Can any power invade and/or remove the beliver from this union? NO! See Paul’s statement of “faith” in Romans 8:31-38.

Romans 8:31-39

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now, can one who has come to such a union of Life reject the Truth and reality of this union and count, in his heart by the exercise of his own will, the blood covering to be an unholy thing and turn from Life unto death? Hebrews 6:4-8 seems to say that one can, but that is so doing he will not find Salvation or true repentance unto forgiveness of sin in any other way. The writer was speaking to those who had returned to the law, that they would not find Salvation there (John 5:39-40).

John 5:39-40 (1901 American Standard Version)

39 Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me; 40 and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

Having done so, can one return to the Cross and there find Salvation in Christ? The Blood once shed is forever shed and forever available to who-so-ever will.

Most often the question is not one of loosing our Salvation, but one of walking in Christ. One of growing up into Christ in all things. Will we count ourselves as being dead to sin having no Life but Christ, or will we seek to live our own lives for Salvation is Christ and Christ is Life, and Life Lives. It was never meant to be any other way. Salvation is not mercy from sin or sins, but is unto the Father. It is a “Life Union”. Jesus said, “ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” (John 14:20). Jesus?

I cannot imagine anyone rejecting such a Salvation.
